Bodega333

Bodega333 is an installation and exhibition, transforming the gallery space into an other-worldly storefront.

Objects created by artist Alison Cortes replicate both existing and imaginative products you might be able to purchase in a much more magical and honest alternate reality. Such objects include textile, cardboard, and mixed-media sculpture goods, acrylic paintings, textile tapestries, and a scale sculpture cash register stand filled with “bodega bucks.” Bright and playful, Bodega333 invites its audience to connect with their inner childlike spirit and explore a gallery transformed into a dreamlike playroom. It also hosted 3 unique immersive programming events to activate the space, and invited the public with free or pay-what-you-can donations to enjoy yoga, a creative workshop, and a local band performance. This project aims to reframe how we perceive everyday spaces, objects, and environments when we view the world through a more colorful and curious lens. It exists at the intersection of imagination and reality. You never know where or when magic and connection can be found.
